Blue Ray Movies Selling 300% Higher in June |

June was a great month for Blue Ray movies and discs. Sales in June are up 300 percent from June 2007 according to cdfreaks.com. Blue Ray movies, the players and the discs have combined to bring in about 10.1 billion dollars, a pretty impressive number. It looks like even with what some would call a recession people still want the latest and greatest in media entertainment. The Video Business report also said that there has been a 4.5 percent increase with cheap Blue Ray movies (old titles) in the first half of 2008.
I will be the first to say that paying 40 dollars for newly released Blue Ray movies is pretty ridiculous but for people that just want to update their movie libraries with old classics, the prices are much more affordable. I cannot wait until Blue Ray movies come down in price to something around 25 dollars. While I don’t see it happening this year, as the format continues to grow in sales the prices will drop. Another interesting point from cdfreaks.com is that a .5 percent increase in rental Blue Ray movies occurred this year.
