Casper Van Dien (remember him?) gets a boost this week with the release of Starship Troopers 3: Marauder, a new film in the popular science fiction action series as well as reissues of the entire Starship Troopers series as Blue Ray DVD movies. The latest Troopers outing is bypassing theatrical release and if you want to see it, you'll have to rent Blue Ray disc movies either at your local rental store or through a DVD rental service. Among the other new Blue Ray movies is the welcome release of an old classic from TV, Lonesome Dove starring Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones. It's one of the best westerns made for any medium in any era. If you've never seen it, check it out this week. There are some high-quality documentaries among this week's Blue Ray DVD movies, including the BBC High Definition Natural History Collection and Wild China, a look at the Chinese landscape beyond the cities, just in time for the Olympic China furor. Rounding out this week's selection of Blue Ray DVD movies is a concert film featuring Korn, titled Korn: Live at Montreaux 2004. So as I said, the new Blue Ray movies are a decidedly mixed bag of sci fi action and head-banging intensity. |
